Camping Equipment & Canvas Swags Perth

Q: What canvas camping equipment should I own?

The most common basic canvas camping item is a trusty swag. We can custom make swags to suit your requirements, whether it be to fit in the tray of a ute, pack up to fit on the back of a bike or the taj mahal of camping swags, anything is possible.

Q: Should I get a camping swag or a tent?

A camping swag is an all in one tent and bed set up. You can pack all your sleeping gear in and throw it on the roof of the car or in a trailer and not worry about it till you get to camp. A tent is great for longer stays or to set up for a place to change or store more gear. Camping swags, on the other hand, are great for short stays and moving camps.

Q: Are swags waterproof?

All our swags are waterproof but may require reproofing years down the track. This is generally due to sticking slightly loosening as time goes on, allowing water to seep through.

Camping in the outback of Australia is a favourite pastime for many Perth and south west locals. Packing up your 4WD with a fabric tent or camping swag, perhaps a pop-top caravan or camper trailer in tow. There are thousands of stunning coastal and inland locations in Western Australia that make for perfecting camping locations the whole family can enjoy.

Canvas camping equipment frequently asked questions

Have some questions about our camping equipment products or custom swag options?

We've compiled some of the most frequently asked questions to make finding the answers easy!

What canvas camping equipment should I own?

Should I get a camping swag or a tent?

Are swags waterproof?

What should I look for when buying a swag?

Is the size suitable? Is it long enough, wide enough or tall enough that you still feel comfortable in the swag?

Swags come in many shapes and sizes and can make some people feel a bit claustrophobic having material on their face while they sleep in smaller swags. However, taller swags with framework keep the material off your face for a more spacious night’s sleep. Just like selecting a bed, tell us the number of people you’re planning to use the camping swag for and if you like to sprawl out, and we’ll manufacture a custom swag to suit.

Another thing to think about is the type and depth of the mattress, weather just a piece of foam, self-inflating or otherwise can make a big difference depending on where the swag gets set up.
