Fabric repair frequently asked questions
Have some questions about our canvas and PVC repair services?
We've compiled some of the most frequently asked questions to make finding the answers easy!
Depending on the size of the tear or hole, canvas can be fixed with a patch either glued or sewn on, darning the hole or tear. This is completed by sewing back and forth continuously over the damaged area sealing the hole or tear. If the hole is tiny, a smear of glue can be used to seal the hole.
Yes. Depending on the size of the hole and the location, Morley Canvas can either sew a patch of new canvas to cover the whole, on use glue to conceal it. If the canvas rip or tear is too large, or the canvas is old and weathered, our team may recommend having the whole product redone.
If your awning is torn where it connects back to the roller or fixings, removal of the awning is generally required before adding a new piece. Before putting it back together, it may be worthwhile using new canvas or PVC to replace the awning. Either way, we recommend bringing in your canvas awning to our workshop for expert advice.
The most common ways to repair a canvas tarp is to glue, sew on a patch, or using the dawning technique. For PVC tarps, Morley Canvas can also fix tears with specialised heat welders.
